The problem here is that the kid now has an arrest on his record.
Even if the charges are dropped, and the arrest expunged, there are a lot of jobs where he’ll still have to reveal that he was arrested and explain why. Like if he eventually chooses to try to become a military officer (as he currently wants to). Older Freepers will recall how an expunged juvie arrest record was used to mess with Linda Tripp’s security clearance during the Monica Lewinkski scandal.
This is going to follow the kid for the rest of his life, and WILL impact his ability to become and have a career with any sort of a security clearance (if the arrest record is the only difference between him and another equally rated/qualified person for a single open position)
The teacher, the school and the cops need to pay through the nose for this one. I hope the kid has a good lawyer.
Let that be a lesson for parents. You are really taking a chance when you send your kids to public schools that have no compunction about having them falsely arrested.
Bingo. The State dropped a hammer on this kid by arresting him for a simple school dispute. Now the kid and his family must punch back 10 times as hard with a lawsuit against the cop and the school; human rights violations, abridgment of personal freedoms, false arrest, you name it. These statists must pay and learn to think twice before using the State as a weapon against the people.
This is alighty inaccurate, arrest does not mean conviction. A lot of people are arrested, not all of them are convicted.
The conviction, now that will cause some problems especially if a candidate doesn't come clean about it. But that little box on an application... have you ever been convicted, plead nolo contender or (etc, etc, etc). He can still put a big fat No in there, granted that could change over his life time, but right now, still a big fat No.
