He's actually right about this. I've had several folks who work in counter-terrorism tell me this sort of thing. In fact, they used the similarities in the psychological profiles of American terrorists like John Walker Lindh and Adam Gadahn and the Columbine killers to make the point.

In all of these cases the culprits are misfits and losers who simply can't cope with their life situation in the modern world, and so they hide behind some kind of fabricated grievance to rationalize their psychotic behavior.

Former NBA star Charles Barkley of all people actually pegged this one perfectly the other day in an interview. When asked what he thought was behind this, he said (I'm paraphrasing): "They're crazy, plain and simple. Just because you think you have a reason for being an idiot, it doesn't mean you're not an idiot when you do something like this."

Same could be said of the spoil brat Commie terrorists of the 1960s and 1970s and 1980s (the Weather Underground and beyond).

The leaders of the youth movement were neither young nor poor.

They're crazy, plain and simple.

You might as well say the world is crazy, so just forget about it.

Actually, like these recent Muslim bombers, Walker Lindh and Adam Gadahn did it in the name of Islamic Jihad. There’s no comparison whatsoever to the Columbine killers who were simply mental nutcase psychopaths acting out their violent video game fantasies against their school mates who avoided them like the plague.

I disagree. These weren’t a couple of kids that were bullied at school or were nerds, outcasts (ie: Columbine). The eldest one went to Russia, worked with Al Quaida terror groups for 6mos, posted violent video’s on his facebook, had violent rantings at his Mosque, etc. Then they make bombs to blow up, dismember, main, kill people at a large sporting event due to Islam, kill the infidels.

This was a terrorist action.

I recall Obama making excuses for Islamic terrorism, he said something to the fact, they were uneducated, poor, out of work and this is the reason they resorted to terrorism. Really?

We put too much stress on psychology and too little on commonsense. The psychological explanation relieves the investigators of the need to look further into radical Islamic circles in the area.
