Just imagine what happened to the white guys who were unlucky enough to land in this detention center. Robbery, rape, extortion and beatings were waiting for them. This is pretty common in county jails located in cities. You have a large black inmate population and a lot of black officers who know the inmates from the streets. It’s a bad combination.
At my daughter’s freshman orientation at Loyala, they told us that Baltimore police would call university police if they arrested a student, so that the student could be placed in the university lock-up instead of the city jail.
The universities, government, and the hospitals are Baltimore’s economy - wouldn’t do to have a student charged with drunk and disorderly raped or killed in jail.
