You know when I was young I would have just told them no. My daughter was the same way. What is wrong with all these kids that they just give in so easily and do as they are told?
My daughter knew that even if she got in trouble at school and it was for something that she or I believed strongly about, that I would back her to the hilt and take a trip down to the school in a heartbeat. Matter of fact her friends used to giggle about it and go....wait til your mom hears. lol
They, like their parents, have been directed to submit to the notion the authorities know what's best, and are not to be questioned... ever.
So would I. Followed shortly by beating the crap out of them. No change now that I am old.
That’s what I’m thinking; I would have just said ‘hell no and you can’t make me!’
I would have not only said no I would have walked out of the school to the nearest safe place and called my parents. No kid I went to school with at that age would have put up with this crap. Then again our principals and teachers had morals themselves.
Got to agree with you - when they were trying to ram the apology to Aboriginals (in Australia) down the kids throats at schools my eldest boy stood up and said I am sorry for what happened to some Aboriginal people bit I am not going to apologize as I have never done anything to hurt one. The teacher gave him a bit of an argument but let it go. My response to him was “If you get any flack for this just let me know then I will sort it out”. Kids need to know you have their back. The Deputy Principal loved my visits - he could not object to a lot of what was being done as it was within curriculum guidelines but he sure as heck encouraged me to complain directly to the teacher(s).
