prayer works, its helped give us good doctors and good medicine
Ok, I’ll bite......which one is the wife?
They look like they are related to each other. I wonder if they are cousins.
God equips some of us with the ability to treat others medically. Belief in faith-based healing had to meet limits when sick children are involved.
Usually has nothing to do with religion and more to do with control.
Christian Science is closer to Scientology than Christianity.
Here are some famous Christian Science followers:
Mary Baker Eddy, Danielle Steele, Richard Bach, Val Kilmer, Ellen DeGeneres, Robin Williams, Robert Duvall, Bruce Hornsby, Mike Nesmith, Jim Henson, Alan Shepherd, Milton Berle, Ginger Rogers, Marilyn Monroe, Marlon Brando, Gene Autry, Frank Capra, H.R. Haldeman, John Ehrlichman.
Oh Boy! These are difficult cases as a lot of issues arise, Freedom of Religion, parental rights etc. etc. That being said I would fall on the side of state intervention as the child cannot meaningfully take steps to obtain his own medical care and treatment. If prayer worked my daughter would be alive today.(She also had the finest medical care.)
God gave us intelligence, too - obviously these two missed out.
Even Saint Luke was a doctor, folks.
Prayer and technology are not mutually exclusive. The Good Lord was a firm believer in healers. Why these two think they know better is beyond me.
What pastor tells people to do this?
If freedom of religion is a free pass to do whatever someone wants to do, with no limits, then jihad is a protected practice too.

Good grief.
Not only are these people morally suspect, but they’re also theologically suspect. What they do is called “tempting the Lord.” Hint - you’re not supposed to do it.
BTW, if they’re into the “faith healing” thing, then they are not “fundamentalist” Christians. They’re probably more akin to some strain of pentecostalism/charismatism.
I read theological cousins of these two every day here on this forum.
They are murderers, and should be treated as such.
I’ve always wondered what motivates people to latch onto such totally irrational, wicked ideas under cover of religion. My own theory is that some people need to feel morally superior, and believing something that only a tiny minority believes accomplishes that for them, by proving their superior “faith.” Never mind that the REASON it’s a minority belief is that it’s whacko.
I tend to think of people who shun modern medical help as the man sitting on the porch of his house as the flood waters are rising, praying to God to save him.
As the water approaches the porch, a man comes by in a row boat and yells to the man “Come on, Get in. The water is rising.” But the man refuses saying “God will save me.” So, the man in the boat rows away and the man on the porch keeps praying.
The water continues to rise and the man moves up to the second floor of his house as the first floor is flooding. Another man comes by in a motor boat and says to the stranded man, “Come on, get in. I’ll get you out of here.” but the man in the house says “No thanks, God will save me.”
The water keeps rising and finally the praying man ends up on the roof of his house. A man in a helicopter comes by and lowers his ladder. He pleads with the man on the roof to climb the ladder, but the praying man says “No thank you. God will save me.”
Well, the water covers the roof and the praying man drowns. When he gets to Heaven, he asks God, “I prayed and prayed for your help. Why didn’t you save me?”
And God replied, “I sent two boats and a helicopter. What more did you want!”
