Has anyone ever thought of solving the immigration crisis by handing out temporary work permits only ...but conditioning them....not permitting any welfare. .... you can come and work but no welfare of any kind including healthcare ..that’d limit immigrants to only the hardiest of persons a group willing to work hard to become a citizen under present rules...one who appreciated earning one of the most valuable things on earth...American Citizenship.
Your suggestion makes so much sense that it has absolutely zero chance of being voted into law.
