It shows that even an ultra-liberal like Maher is more willing to speak the obvious truth about terror than the man who started "the war on terror" in the first place. "Islam is peace" droned Bush gratuitously, just days after 9-11. "When we think of Islam we think of a faith that brings comfort to a billion people around the world. Billions of people find comfort and solace and peace" he added, apparently having no clue what most of us really think of Islam, but more importantly what Islam thinks of us. You could say, to use a bumper sticker metaphor, Maher just stuck "Don't Mess with Texas" on his car, while Bush went with that absurd COEXIST decal.
Nice guy or simply stuck on stupid, Bush was not a good president.
“Nice guy or simply stuck on stupid, Bush was not a good president.”
Hmmm, lemme think about the article’s straw man argument for a minute.
Ok, ready.
Someone who successfully waged 2 concurrent wars against islamic militants and their supporting sponsor states, killing many thousands of jihadists and their leadership is supposedly “not a good president” because of a statement made after 9/11 and the comment by a left wing ‘comedian’ about what his bumper sticker should be?
You think GWB’s bumper sticker should be Coexist rather than Don’t Mess With Texas, seriously? That’s delusional!
Reality check:
After saying “islam is a religion of peace” he kicked off two wars, and we’ve been killing international jihadis ever since. Oh, but folks like you carry on “he said blah, blah and I saw it on my TeeVee!!!” and that’s what really matters?
WTF, over?
Get a clue: Maher is playing the public’s shift in sentiment after the bombing and, as always, is doing it at the expense of his political opponents. And you lapped all it up.
