I’ve always wondered why this state has any Democrats in office at all.....then I remember a couple I met in Seattle that were hard corps unionists/Democrats......both were born/raised in Butte Montana.... just never seemed right to me......except as children of the Great Depression.....

My guess is that the Slave Party constituency in Montana consists of unemployed resource extraction workers (miners, loggers, and such), their unemployable children, bureaucrats (eco-nazis and welfare administrators), and the legacy of mine workers' unions. Am I far off?
Butte did not have a single fast food chain until the mid 80’s - like McDonalds, Wendy's, BK, etc. - due to the immense power of unions in Butte. Think Democrat stronghold.
Still one of the tougher city's in the US.
.remember, democrats used to be for working America....protecting jobs...helping business....
that was the old rat party, the party you could find some sympathy with..
