1. Set up an “engineering school” in India. Cirriculum to include training in industry-specific disciplines ABC, DEF.4, MumboJumbo Version 3.5, XYZbuilder, etc.

2. Advertise a job requiring a bewildering array of required disciplines — see above for list.

3. Satisfy government regulations that no Americans qualify. (Legal help is available to ensure this.)

4. Hire Indians from “engineering school”.

Sounds strangely similar to Corporation ABC who use to make their widgets in a US factory with American workers. This company’s claim-to-fame widget was still relatively inexpensive to manufacture.

BUT - Corporation ABC was being squeezed with environmental regulations, union thuggery, and an ever-increasing tax burden (or requirement to pay for healthcare for all workers...). So ABC finds a plant in Shenzhen, China where they can manufacture their widget for 10 cents a piece cheaper. Further - they can write off the costs of transporting their shipments of widgets. So even with base labor and manufacturing cots growing to be close to US costs, they are not hit with the same taxes, additional burdens of regulation and red tape, and can make 5 cents more per widget than if it was made in the US (still at a profit).

And our own government is setting this scenario up through its onerous, capricious, and burdensome laws and regulations.

Indeed - from what I have been reading - the cost of manufacturing in China have been rising steadily - and if not for compliance, unions, taxes, and other costs -China would no longer be so attractive.

Of course - the flip-side - that these companies have to be willing to turn a blind eye too - Manufacturing plant in China that is producing this company’s widgets will copy that widget and market/sell them for an even lower price - eventually even infringing on your patents and trademarks with impunity because China’s legal system doesn’t give a rip about US Patent laws (or any other nation’s for that matter).

How did we get to this point?
