A "right to defend itself, by itself" is invoked a lot by Israel these days.
Asked whether President Obama had given Israel what is often referred to as a "green light" to act militarily on Iran, Mr Netanyahu quipped: "Israel's right to defend its existence is not subject to a traffic light."

Great response! I’d have said “pothole” instead of traffic light.
I think Benni should just go ahead and take out the Iranians if they are such a strategic threat! Otherwise put a sock in it and leave us alone!
Bump for the Leader of the Free World.
BUMP
What exactly has “Benni” done to us? Every time a non-Israeli camera is stuck in his face the media wants to know what Obama said or didn’t say. It must get tiring for any leader of Israel - he has been pretty clear about the fact that Israel is an independent state that will look out for itself.
I respect him and wish he was my President. He is an impressive figure with a sharp intellect and a wise understanding of history.
Your seemingly critical posts insinuates that you believe Netanyahu is bothering us or is trying to drag us into a conflict with Iran. Personally, Iran has been pretty clear about wishing destruction on us and IMHO they have killed more of our soldiers in Iraq than anyone else so I would not mind if we tested out our latest bunker busters on their facilities. That’s just me though....
He’s the best!
Thanks very much.
He really is. [smiles]
Why don’t you emigrate to Israel? Maybe you can get a job working for your hero, but here’s a clue, he’s just another crappy politician.
