(This was back during Putin’s reelection, and Jones was telling people that the U.S. was trying to destablize Russia through the civil-rights groups.)Why not? Anyone who thinks the Communists didn't try the same thing with us during the Cold War isn't thinking. Environmental groups were pushed from afar for the same purpose, and it was some of the best money the KGB ever spent (from their point of view).
