BOSTON, April 20 (Reuters) - The U.S. Federal Public Defender Office in Boston is seeking to be appointed to represent Dzhokhar Tsarnaev, the suspect in the Boston Marathon bombings.
The office commonly defends individuals who cannot afford their own attorneys in criminal cases. An official there, Charles McGinty, said its attorneys have not spoken to Tsarnaev and will have to be appointed to represent him by a federal judge. "That's why we're trying to advance the appointment to be as soon as possible," he said.

The perp should be transferred to the military so he can be waterboarded, THEN sent to GITMO.
Just watch. Obama will pardon Lynne Sweet, so that she can represent this POS.
I’m sure our friends, the Saudis, will get money to him for legal representation. After all, they are ideologically on the same page. Maybe they can get Kardashian..
His family had resources. Something freepers are good at checking out.
The only place Saudi money will go in this operation is in Barrack HUSSAIN Obama’s pocket.
That wouldn’t surprise me at all.....
Hmm. I think Barack Hussein Obama is the Saudi’s pocket..
He’ll get a high profile liberal criminal defense attorney pro bono. That’s how careers are made.
Yep, just ask Barry Soetoro.
Federal lawyers taking on Federal lawyers. This should be a real circle jerk. They’ll probably be a settlement out of court.
I thought this guy was rolling in money - the lifestyle of the rich and famous. There have been several comments about his expensive cars, his partying, never in want.
Of course now he’ll grow a long beard and go “full Muslim.”
Apparently reports say these two had enough money to always be driving new cars, Mercedes, BMW’s, etc. Why would a public defender be needed?
Ooo, Oo,..I’ll take ‘to make a name for myself and get out this crummy public defender’s office’ for $1000, Alex.
First day in court, he'll have a fresh boyish haircut, clean shave, light skin and clothes that make him look like a poor misguided yute that was taken advantage of by his older brother. Think pictures of 0's son Trayvon.
This bomber isn’t some modern day Thomas Preston, and this public defender isn’t some modern day John Adams.
That being said, the man is legally entitled to competent legal counsel when facing the death penalty.
