In some states the owner would buy one tag for the life of the vehicle or class of vehicle until it was no longer readable at all.

Now we have like a gazillion choices or at least 57 x 4 :)

Mass. seems to be doing that lately, having us keep the same plates. It must save the state tons of money or line their pockets more.

There are a lot of vanity plates for Mass, too. At least 57.
