In re, Ayers "as the guy in the neighborhood," Barry's gay communist mentor at Occidental was a prof named Lawrence Goldyn, who oddly enough was a very close friend of Bill Ayers. It was Goldyn who shipped young Barry off to NYC, and obviously into Ayers' protection at the start of the mysterious "Columbia" sojourn.

It was Ayers and Dohrn who got Barry hooked up with Bill's Daddy's law firm in Chicago, and with another attorney at the firm, Michelle Robinson. It was Ayers who got Barry the Community Organizer gig. It was Ayers who put Barry on the board of the Annenberg Foundation ... all of this and more, yet Barry denied a close relationship with Ayers, who also btw, wrote his autobiography, which is why Barry has only a sketchy idea of what's in it!

Yet for years they denied the relationship.
