MIT issued an emergency alert at 10:48 on Thursday night reporting shots fired on the university campus. The school newspaper reports, "Shots fired near 32 Vassar St (Stata Center), police officer down. Please stay inside." That report is backed up by CBS News's Bonney Kapp who reports hearing "officer down" on the police scanner just before the MIT alert went out. For now, details are scarce, but the suspect is on the loose and considered armed and extremely dangerous.

I think Ayers reflected the time, the virulent anti-war movement, SDS/Weatherme, etc, and the cultural upheaval that was going on during the late 60s/early 70s. The closest today’ students come/came to that was the fairly pathetic “OWS” movement. US students haven’t been ‘into’ bombing for a full generation now.
I know a wonderful young lady that attends MIT. News from her mother is that she was not affected by this event.
Still . . . scary stuff for a parent in Texas.

When they were showing a picture of one of the bomb suspects on CNN a few minutes ago, I noticed a guy a few feet away from him, and the guy had an MIT sweatshirt on. I know that’s probably just random given the proximity to MIT, but I found it coincidental as they had just reported on the shooting a couple minutes prior.
Isn’t that what the South African runner did and killed his model girlfriend?
Also not sleeping well since those 3-4 Mexicans tried to break in my neighbors house and shot at her. Talked to the cops finally about it because the crime report did not mention a gun. His excuse was that they found the casing but not the bullet! Unfreakinbelievable. Some other neighbors heard the gun go off too. Woman says they shot at her. Cop says he thinks the gun discharged as they were running away. Can you believe that??
The point is, he lived to tell about it, by following Joe’s advice.

Boston has over 5500 violent crimes per year, so it would be a news story if we had a day where there weren't things happening (several times per day).

The engineering school I attended was LOADED with foreign nationals. Just saying.
My wife kept saying from day 1 that the bombers might be MIT students...and she repeated that after the photo’s were released today.
i don’t know why she says this, but she (and my eldest son too) have some sort of wierd juju and just “know” things sometimes.
