Your granddaughter sounds like a sweet little thing.

Life and "fairness" are totally different from each other. One exists (life) and the other is a wish. It only really exists in scored games with hard-set rules -- if someone is cheating, it means the game wasn't fair. Other than that, however, what is "fair" is entirely out of our hands. The only thing we can do is to treat each other justly. After that, "fairness" is in the hands of the Almighty.

I suppose it's plenty unfair that I was born with the gene of black-out violent alcoholism, making it so I cannot drink at all ever without risking seriously negative consequences. In the long run, I see that it was one of God's best blessings on me. "Fair" is in the hands of God. We can only advocate for justice.

If marijuana is a gateway it's because the law has made it one.

That's an interesting take. It could be.

I do think that blaming a drug (opium, booze, pot) for an addict's ruin, is like blaming a gun for a shooting. And I truly despise the whole "addiction" and "disease" mindset that invests super-human powers in drugs and hammers the morale of the person wanting to quit and move on.

I like parties (and attend them as often as possible!) where there is lots of booze because the vast majority of even so-called "heavy" drinkers are in control. Most people don't even notice that I'm not drinking, and I'm always the designated driver, so they can relax. I think booze is GOOD for most people, I really do. I hate the idea of a world without hard liquor. That's Muslim! That's like a world without dogs!
