That was yesterday. Now because of the Ricin thing, Harry Reid wants people to get a background check before they can buy rice.
“It’s not a ban on rice,” says Reid, “It’s just to keep rice out of the hands of criminals.” He promised that it would not lead to rice registration or confiscation.
The American Rice Growers Association immediately responded by saying something so profane that it is not legal for publication in 45 US states.
New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg immediately purchased 400,000 metric tons of rice for his own personal use, and is now demanding that rice be outlawed in New York City, which the New York City Council agreed to put into law even before they knew what they were agreeing to, as usual.
Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel is now banning the sale of rice in Chicago, unless each seed is microstamped with a unique identification number, using a technology that will never be developed.
Senator Dianne Feinstein then went on a racist rant about how “rice-eating radical Republican Tea Party Asians” are responsible for much of the rice related terrorism in the United States, and how large volume cooking woks and chopsticks should also be banned.
Most MSM shows have called for a “national dialogue about rice cookers.”
Also ban potato ricers which can turn otherwise peaceful potatoes into poisonous ricin. Or at least our Congressidiots might believe so.
