WASHINGTON (AP) -- A senior Democratic senator who helped write President Barack Obama's health care law stunned administration officials Wednesday, saying openly he thinks it's headed for a "train wreck" because of bumbling implementation.
"I just see a huge train wreck coming down," Senate Finance Committee Chairman Max Baucus, D-Mont., told Obama's health care chief during a routine budget hearing that suddenly turned tense.
Baucus is the first top Democrat to publicly voice fears about the rollout of the new health care law, designed to bring coverage to some 30 million uninsured Americans through a mix of government programs and tax credits for private insurance that start next year. Polls show the public remains confused by the complexity of the law, and even many uninsured people are skeptical that they will be helped.
A six-term Democrat, Baucus expects to face a tough re-election in 2014. He's still trying to recover from approval ratings that nosedived amid displeasure with the health care law in his home state.
Normally low-key and supportive, Baucus challenged Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius at Wednesday's hearing.

The list, Ping
Let me know if you would like to be on or off the ping list
Guess who’s not getting invited to the next meeting.
Sorry pal. No back pedalling at yhis point is going to distance you from this mess. Own it!!
We are witnessing the development of a talking point for Dems in conservative states for the next election. “The law is good but the implementation is “bumbling” and “a train wreck.” It allows them to explain why they voted for this government-expanding, budget-busting monstrosity but should not be held to account for its horrible effects. “You see, its a good idea but it just hasn’t been implemented well.” Republicans can’t take this bait. The whole idea is a “train wreck.” Even if it was implemented efficiently. In fact, if it was implemented efficiently, we would be in a lot worse shape now.
So why were members of the Tea Party and other conservatives accused of racism when they saw the very same thing back in 2009?
Well golly gee, Senator, maybe you shouldn’t have f’n voted for it!! Now you’re up for reelection and your all worried.
It’s not “the implementation” ~ rather it’s the bill itself.
Inferior minds created this mess ~ and the only solution is to rescind it and lock up the writers pending the next turn of the century.
Next, how minor disputes over Exchange billing practices will destroy the federal court system in 6 weeks.
Just remember, though, it’s a liberal idea, so it couldn’t be inherently flawed...
it’s just not being implemented right or by the right people.
bump
Bingo!!
Top Dem sees ‘train wreck’ for Obama health law Co-author of Obama health care law sees ‘huge
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Hell, even Stevie Wonder could see this “train wreck”. So. When is Baucus going to introduce a bill to OVERTURN this disastrous “train wreck”?
Isn’t this the same excuse with communism?
It’s a great thing. It hasn’t worked because it wasn’t implemented well.
That’s a vote getter statement fo sho!
Dat boy may be worried about his job!
So who do you cross the Voter of the DNC!
Love to seem em start squirmin!
The voter or the DNC ! edit!
The only thing the government is good at is screwing everything up.
The talking points will be that if all the states and all the GOP had just rolled over and embraced the idea, it would be going swell. But so many states refused to create “exchanges”, so many employers found “loopholes” and so many doctors threatened “retirement” that it was all a problem in “implementation”, you see.
