I’ve read several articles saying that the marathon runners noticed a lot of police activity and extra security at the start of the race.

It seems more than likely that they had some sort of advance warning—a terrorist threat or a word from the FBI to watch out.

If so, then Obama must know about the warning. But, of course, he says nothing. Wouldn’t want to implicate his Muslim pals, or stop all the MSM speculation that it was Vast Right Wing Tea Baggers who did it.

I'd take that with a grain of salt. Of course a big event like the Marathon is going to have security that we don't see on a regular basis. I heard - probably on Fox, that they swept the area with bomb sniffing dogs twice. Again, routine for a high profile event, but not what one sees at the Mall or the bowling alley.
