Dozens of resorts with permits to operate on national forests have bought or acquired rights to use nearby bodies of water for snowmaking. The Forest Service had adopted a clause that said those resorts had to transfer their water rights to the federal government
...
After the National Ski Areas Association sued, a judge ruled last year that the agency violated procedure in not seeking public comment before adopting the clause.
The agency now plans open houses April 16 in Lakewood, Colo., on April 17 in Salt Lake City, and April 18 in Lake Tahoe, Calif., to get input.

The feds also try to steal water from farmers, ranchers, cities, and town using similar tricks.

One of these days the ‘water wars’ will really take hold, and if you think the ‘oil wars’ have been something...hold on!

This one is scary.
Water and water rights in the west are more valuable than gold and damn near as scarce. Once the Federals have control of the water, they can dictate damn near everything.

Same crap as the USFS wanting to close thousands of miles of roads in the forest. I believe this is all Agenda 21 implementation.
To: george76
One more method for the feds to use to take control.

That's all it takes? I'm going to adopt a clause that makes Air Force One my property along with full support in perpetuity on the taxpayer's nickel. USFS is really displaying some hubris and lack of understanding of the 5th amendment if they think they can seize private property without compensation by "adopting a clause".

shear insanity... it's NOT like the water is being DESTROYED, it's simply being diverted and will return to the watershed via a different route!!!
