Authorities on Saturday searched Seagoville storage units as they focused their investigation into the slayings of the Kaufman County district attorney, his wife and a top prosecutor on a former justice of the peace.
Eric Lyle Williams is now the prime suspect in the murder of District Attorney Mike McLelland, his wife, Cynthia, and Assistant District Attorney Mark Hasse, law enforcement authorities say.
We can sleep a lot better tonight, said one law enforcement official.
Williams, 46, has not been charged in connection with the slayings. He was arrested early Saturday on a terroristic-threat charge after dozens of law-enforcement workers executed a search warrant at his Kaufman home on Friday.
Authorities said anonymous threats recently were emailed to county employees and they were traced back to Williams.

Williams was convicted of stealing county equipment last year and sentenced to probation in a case prosecuted by McLelland and Hasse. That case is on appeal. Williams faces another theft charge in a case related to money allegedly misused from a law library fund.
Williams bail on that pending theft case has been revoked. He is being held on bail totaling $3 million.

But suspicion long centered on Williams, authorities say. His first theft case in which he was accused of stealing three computer monitors was aggressively prosecuted by McLelland and Hasse. At the emergency room in the hours after Hasses murder, McLelland told others that he believed Williams was behind his top assistants death. He made similar statements to other people before he died.
Williams lost his job, law license and health insurance.

was it a real admission or just an Alford plea
Nor do they have to be a Peace Officer in fact one of our local JP’s is a retired rodeo clown Guail Dobbs. He married my wife and I almost 2 years ago, not many can say they were married by a clowm. It was an honor for him to perform the service, hes well like and has a hell of a rodeo career.
“...not many can say they were married by a clowm.”
I would imagine there not too many people at all that were married by a clowm.
“And, long-term, no one will really remember what started it all.”
It was ever thus.
I think that the Obama administration is going to use these murders to club Governor Perry. Here’s how.
1. The FBI and ATF are heavily involved in the investigation
2. Eric Williams was an officer in the Texas State Guard
3. Governor (Goodhair) Perry is the commander in chief of the Texas State Guard
4. The Governor and Williams were both gun lovers
5. Texas State Guard lawyers (JAG) and other officers were heavily involved in the defense of Williams during the computer theft trial last year.
6. The governor has been pushing concealed carry in the State Guard (a supposedly unarmed force) for the last couple of years.
5. The Feebs will dig deep in the dung heap of this guy to show that the unrestricted access to black, scary AR type weapons with 30 round magazines and concealed carry by unhinged lawyers in the State Guard is the real cause of these murders.
The guy was a real nutcase in the State Guard. He rode around everywhere on his Segway, like he was Julius Caesar.
yeah doesn’t sound like the Daily Mail buys it either, look at the quotes around “solved”
I thought at one time the prime suspect was a Saudi that was incarcerated. And then they found a convenient white supremacist, who became conveniently brain dead, who is next Gonzo from the Muppets?
The usual things that drive courthouse squabbles, greed and power.
Is he a Democrat?
He was on the 2010 Republican Primary ballot for JP Precinct 1 Kaufman County. So they were all running as Republicans but looks like that county you have to be an R to have a real chance. He could be a Democrat switch party guy since he got support from the Dallas DA Dem. Who knows anymore?
If you look it up, the State of TX does not even require one to be sane in order to be a JP.
Here’s more on the suspect
