Well, touch tech PCs have been around since at least 2004, the tech has been greatly improved and they work pretty well.
Win 8 was designed for the touch tech PC and works well with it.
Don’t worry about having to be idiotic and use one. The move to touch tech is still in the early stages and you’ve got a few years left on the mouse. Of course by then technology will be moving into PCs in your eyewear (which is already out there) so you’ll have to figure out how to train your eyeballs to move the mouse.
I wonder if Leap Motion’s new device will be a good pairing with Windows 8.
