BEIJING Secretary of State John F. Kerry lobbied China on Saturday to lean harder on its Marxist ally North Korea, suggesting that Washington might reverse certain military moves in the region if the North gives up its nuclear weapons ambitions.
Kerry argued that the Norths escalating belligerence threatens the entire Pacific region, including Chinas interests. He won a modest restatement of the shared goal of a non-nuclear Korean Peninsula and a public call from Chinas foreign policy chief, Yang Jiechi, for a way out of the tension peacefully, through dialogue.
That was a clear warning to North Korea that its main economic and political protector does not want a new Asian war.
People in the region understand what the balance of the power is in the situation, Kerry said during a news conference closing his day of meetings with Chinese President Xi Jinping and other officials. Everybody is hoping that reasonableness will prevail.

“Cooperate” = Red China say, liberal US administration do.
Translation = Us will send to NKorea any amount of food and any other stuff they need as payment for blackmail.
‘a crisis had been averted’, ‘all hail Obama peacemaker’
If that does not guarantee another Nobel Peace prize, I don't know what!
Once we nearly nuked China to keep it out of Korea, now Kerry will pay them to take half!
(and borrow from China at interest that money to pay them LOL!)
It’s most instructive to grow old...
“Cooperation” would mean driving these dictatorial b******* out and replacing with free and open elections and a market economy.
Anyone who trusts the ChiComs is a fool.
“Cooperation would mean driving these dictatorial b******* out and replacing with free and open elections and a market economy.”
Yeah we tried. But Sarah Palin didn’t run last time. We will try again in 2016.
North Korea gets time to develop reliable ICBMs and build the bombs to go on them.
Kerry is not a patriot by any stretch of the imagination.
And removing their nuclear and missile capability forever.
It sure will be interesting if “Swifty” J. Fn Kerry accomplishes something in his first month as SecDef, that has eluded the Honorable Hitlery for the past four years!
Maybe that will put on ice Her Thighness’s creds for a presidential run!
Everybody is hoping that reasonableness will prevail.
It’s statements like that, that make me worry.
If everyone( but of course only Kerry actually
said this) is counting on hope then it’s already
too late.
Oh right, I forgot this was the “hope” administration.
“Indians vow to endeavor to persevere.”
Secretary of State...
“kerry, would you be willing to look directly into the camera and, using simple and unequivocal language, give the American people your solemn pledge not to”
...grant any further concessions to the north koreans in any future discussions with them.
Bingo!
Bad enough the word “reasonableness”, if such is really a word (as it stands, it’s a mouthful). Usually, the shorter word “reason” is what you use.
