U.S. Representative Richard Hanna today announced that Remington Arms has been awarded a nearly $80 million contract to produce more than 5,000 sniper rifles for the U.S. military.

That's $16,000 per rifle.

Remington's version of the $5,000 hammer.

think about this! “over 5,000 rifles”? The contract is over 10 years. That is 500 rifles at $16,000 per rifle per year.

A stupid 500 rifles per year. This is nuts.

Umm, what am I missing here. The article says they are contracted to make new modular rifles for the US military, not for NYS LEOs. Just happens that they’re making them in the NY factory.

Doesn’t make sense to me.

Something is hidden from the public.

Marine snipers use the Remington 700 frame. It’s all the attachments that make it an M40 “sniper rifle”, and those attachments cost a lot more than the rifle. A LOT more.

Did you read that sentence in your post to its end? That whole “U.S. military” thing? Do tell how, exactly, U.S. military is New York State law enforcement?
