While I might agree that their off the shelf new stuff isn't what it used to be, they make what I would consider among the best of the best. Dad has 3, 40x in various chambers and I can tell you, only their model 700v even comes close. If you want a bench rifle, it almost has to be a 40x. If there is something recent out there that can compete, I haven't heard about it.

I'm more than a little disappointed in their decision to do this, I always thought they would take the high road but you never know, it may not have even been their decision, they are held by someone else now.

when the guy that zeroed my 22-250 sent the second bullet thru the hole made by the first, i was impressed. nice firearm remington.
