We've seen a lot of female gun owners in the debate over gun control, because a sassy take-charge Lara Croft is a much better image for gun ownership advocates to project than nutty middle-aged men. But while we've read lots of trend pieces about "more and more" women owning guns, polls consistently show that women own far fewer guns and are far more likely to support gun control than men. According to an NBC News/ Wall Street Journal poll released just before the Senate voted to take up gun legislation this morning, 65 percent of American women want stricter gun laws, while only 44 percent of men do. "It's easily one of the largest policy gender gaps we've seen in years," the team NBC News's First Read reports. That follows a Gallup poll that found the single biggest predictor of whether someone owns a gun is their gender. Only 15 percent of women owned guns based on Gallup's polls from 2007 to 2012, while 45 percent of men did. The gun nut as we think of it hoarding weapons, opposed to all gun control is a dude. There are not broad social trends to debunk this stereotype.

Wimmin got VAMA to protect them, what do they care abbout guns? Restraining orders solve everything...
Figures show NBC is dieing.
I have had several women ask me to teach them to shoot lately. If you’ve seen me, you know it’s because they want to learn how to shoot.
“more and more” women owning guns,
The author of this piece is assuming that we are assuming that equal numbers of men and women now own guns. This was never argued. The point is MORE & MORE women are acquiring guns. Parity was never suggested.
This is a dishonest argument, like MOST anti-RKBA screeds...

My MiL, 71 years old... Is getting her Carry Permit.
My Wife, is getting hers and wants a Bersa Firestorm.
Both of my Sisters have expressed an interest in getting their carry permits.
My 9 yo Daughter has me custom building an AR-15 for her for her 10 birthday.
My 18 month old likes playing with her older Brothers Nerf guns...
Yeah... Whatever lib-tards...
Of course all the liberal/progressives believe this. They believe a woman projectile vomiting can stop a gunman far faster than someone else with a gun. The libs should start a NPVA (National Projectile Vomitters Association) to counter the NRA.
I’m a single female and own three guns; a Ruger .22. a Ruger 9mm, amd a Remington shotgun. By this person’s definition I’m probably a ‘female gun nut’. But I’m not a Laura Croft type and I’m not pro-gun control. My Ruger .22 has a ten round magazine, and according to some I don’t need a capacity that large. My Ruger Luger is even worse - that holds 15 in the magazine and one in the chamber. But those who want to tell me I don’t need these kind of guns should come out and live where I live; a rural piece of property where coyotes and Osage copperheads and timber rattlers are not uncommon in a primarily rural county where the sheriff’s department is not just a 911 call away. So I’d appreciate it if these people would not try to tell me how to protect myself, my property, and my animals, or what they don’t think I should have in order to accomplish that.
Any woman I’ve ever known or know of named “Elspeth” tends to be prissy, lecturing, & wearing that tightlipped expression a la Elizabeth Warren that announces, “We are not amused”.
My wife & I are retired military; she is a champion shot with the M1911A1 and is after me to go out & get our CCW’s. But she’s not a gun nut like me, this I have to admit.
"Women are just silly twits who prefer to trust the police to protect them against home invaders, muggers and rapists."
They have not polled women - they have polled the left-wing, radical, what passes for women version of single-chromosome entities (and a number of “metro-sexual men” who pass as the same thing as their version of a woman). The real women I know believe in the Freedoms of the Constitution and the Second Amendment. As Louie L’Amour would put it, “A woman to walk the river with”, and I include my lovely wife in that group.
The pole smoker who wrote that line has never been to a gun show.
