just an observation ~ most of the mad dog killer situations involve someone finalizing his trip into schizophrenia. That can happen quite fast ~ and not everyone with the DNA associated with the condition actually ever manifests the problem.

The consequence is it's virtually impossible to find the mad dog killers ahead of time.

On the other hand the use of psychotropic drugs to deal with neurological ~ not mental ~ disorders is common, but not everybody getting psychotropic drugs is a total head case like the schizophrenics may turn out to be.

I don't see how we can even test for the problem beforehand, nor even anticipate its occurrence based on use of powerful drugs! At least not with current technology.

In the meantime all the rest of us need firearms so we can establish a sort of balance between what certain kinds of mentally ill people can do, and our need for security.

Not likely the police can provide that balance ~

involve someone finalizing his trip into schizophrenia.

Well, into psychosis, anyway.

That discussion is all well and good but it doesn’t answer what happened to this man’s right to due process. Can we admit yet that the rule of law is dead and we live in a banana republic?
