Boy’s Water Pistol Threat Leads To Confiscation Of Father’s Guns, License
Personal Liberty Digest ^ | April 10, 2013 | Bob Livingston

Posted on 04/10/2013 11:23:29 AM PDT by Teotwawki

Yeah, this makes sense: A 10-year-old suggests a bully should be shot with a water pistol, so the police confiscate his father’s firearms and the State revokes his concealed-carry permit.

It happened in New York, a State that is notorious for the difficulty it causes its residents who want to legally carry a gun and that recently suspended the U.S. Constitution and passed draconian gun restrictions. The father posted news of his plight April 1 on the Longislandfirearms.com forum.

As much as he’d like it to have been a bad April Fool’s joke, it’s not. In addition to having his guns confiscated and his license revoked, John Mayer’s son was suspended for two days by the Hauppauge School District following the March 1 incident. When Mayer inquired the next day about when his license would be restored, police told him it would be restored when his son turned 18 and moved out of the house.

Those running the non-education indoctrination system that passes for education have simply lost whatever minds they once possessed; and their ridiculous, mind-numbed zero-tolerance policies are causing kids and parents all manner of hardship and even resulting in criminal records for victimless non-crimes. And New York government long ago divested itself of common sense and restraint.

Mayer has sued the school system and the Suffolk County Police Department in Federal court. “It’s completely absurd,” Mayer’s attorney James Murtha said. However, Murtha does not find the case surprising. He said that Suffolk County has a reputation for stepping on individuals’ gun privileges.

“We’ve been involved in cases and situations where police have severely injured or hampered someone’s rights,” he said . “We see enough wrong doing on both parties to be going toward a federal cause of action because of the civil rights implication.”

NYS should be declared an evacuation zone.

Manhattan should be quaranteened and Doomberg, Cuomo, and Schumer dropped inside.

This is New York.

If not for this reason, the father’s gun will be reported by snitch(es), registered and confiscated. Even though at a later date.

But they will come.

Its a right, not a privilege.

I would think that in the end, if individuals who have had their rights violated in such ways sue the local government in federal court, they will prevail, and confiscated firearms will be returned to their rightful owners.

Isn't that what the Heller SCOTUS decision was about?

If you read the story the kid didn’t even have a water pistol!

Also, gleaned from the story, is the probable notion that the kid can NEVER have a firearm for his entire life. (stating that the dad's rights would not be restored till the kid becomes 18 and moves out)

Apparently, New York pols get off on pushing their weight around and telling others where to go, what to do, and where to get off.

Pols are all the same the world over - Russia, China, the United States, Great Britain, France, Cuba, Vietnam... you name it.

I visited friends in New York City once, they had 5 deadbolts on their apartment door and bars on the window by the fire escape.

I talked with a NYC kid who always carried 50 bucks to pay off muggers. I was surprised he wasn't wearing kneepads too.

Dependence on government for personal defense is the ultimate surrender of self to the state.

It is an invitation to tyranny that few governments will resist, and Bloomberg lusts after power.

Don't try to understand the committed NYC types, they are just simply different. That would be fine with me, if they were willing to keep their insanity at home.

Point of order;

This man's guns were not confiscated. The police did him the favor of calling him first to inform him that they would be confiscated.

Mr. Mayer then took his sidearms to a friend's house and his long guns to his local FFL to lock up. The JBTs did not get their hands on his personal assets.

Why an FFL? Now they are registered and tracked.

Screw that I trust nobody with any of my assets outside my immediate family. Is anybody smart enough to just hide anything anymore and shut the heck up until they need to use them?

It’s only a matter of time before this negro loving gubermint uses thought provoking speech as an excuse to grab guns or sic one of their alphabet regulatory agencies on you...like they did with our numerous business that are now located off shore.

Think about it, since LBJ who gets a bye for conjuring up an escalated Vietnam war with his Gulf of Tonkin mirage the Constitution has been viewed as a hostile document to the negro loving agenda.

Everything in it to protect the individual from an oppressive government has been set aside or modified to accommodate this uncivilized segment of society.

As evidenced by the 1000’s of black flash mobs targeting whites with their free Obama phones blacks hate whites more than ever...so what are they talking about behind closed doors?

I was told by a knowing friend that blacks hate whites now because they “suspect” we don’t respect them because they only got their positions because they’re black. LOL! can you believe that?

They have suspicions! Why it’s all so clear to us now.

I have to agree with you. But still... I went to Tech school there in the Early 1970’s. One of my ‘local’ friends once told me that ‘any’ type of gun was readily available. Just put out the ‘word’ in the right place and you’ll have it three days. No questions asked, just cash on the barrelhead + 10% commission.

I’d be willing to bet the same thing is still working today.

Yep, but what good is an illegal gun when you need to defend your home?

You will land in the cell next to the guy who invaded your home.

They were registered to begin with. In New York using an unregistered gun to defend your own life is a felony.

“It’s completely absurd,” Mayer’s attorney James Murtha said. However, Murtha does not find the case surprising. He said that Suffolk County has a reputation for stepping on individuals’ gun privileges RIGHTS.

An attorney who represents clients whose rights have been infringed especially should know better!!!

You are assuming that the police will be called in. In many places in NYC the police are never notified of anything that happens. They aren’t your friendly neighborhood beat cop anymore. They are perceived as the enemy as much as the rival gang in the next territory.

It’s a sad way to live, but there it is.

My local gun shop guy would do it for me with no paper work and a $20 bill.

I can guess that he knew these parties pretty well to do this. I have friends/contacts who would do it in a heartbeat NQA and keep quiet about it.
