Maybe MSNBC was trying to deflect some of the controversy surrounding Melissa Harris-Perry's recent "Lean Forward" promo by pushing out a new one. MH-P had provoked outrage by proclaiming that "kids belong to their communities" rather than to their parents.
But if anything, the new promo aired during today's Morning Joe just adds fuel to MH-P's socialist fire. While claiming to defend meritocracy, Harris-Perry could only grudgingly admit that the most successful should earn "a little more." She then proceeded to proclaim as a right "health care, education, decent housing and quality food at all times." From each according to his abilities, to each according to his needs, anyone?

well, someone should ask her how much of her salary she is “giving back” to those in need, and how much she really needs to keep? what do you wanna bet she doesn’t tithe to a church or legitimate charity? when was the last time she went on a mission trip, or worked as a volunteer in a mission/service effort? it’s always so much more fun to handle other people’s money and not be held accountable. Envy/greed/resentment are horrible companions, but she seems to be right a home with them...
I agree with your point. In addition, just what is “health care”? Is it the most technologically advanced that is available? Did we deny rights to those who did not get heart transplants before they were available?
What is “decent housing”? When I was growing up few people had air conditioning. Not so long ago indoor plumbing was unheard of. Do you get these as part of your “rights”?
