I wonder if the Germans are also having trouble with the type 212 (i.e. their new Germany-only diesel-electric boat)? I’m not sure how much commonality the 212 and the export-only 214 share, but I’d have to think there’s at least some shared components/tech.

Don’t make the obvious leap, these technically backward countries are first rate used car salesmen. Haggling is the national pastime, much like NFL Football is sadly ours.

The Type-212 is a new design which is smaller and uses more advanced building technology (anti-magnetic steel). On the other hand, the 214 is essentially an upgraded Type-209 which uses the fuel cell AIP of the Type-212. So there is some difference.
