Scotland wants the Bank of England to bail it out if there is another financial meltdown—even if the country breaks away from the UK.

Scottish Nationalists are insisting they want to keep the pound as their currency and retain the Bank of England as the “lender of last resort”.

But an influential committee of peers has warned it would be “implausible” for the Bank to accept risks over which it had no control. It also attacked one of the main parts of Scottish First Minister Alex Salmond’s economic blueprint as “fanciful”. …

Nope. Only place that Alba will have to go is to the ECB, with its draconian terms.

There seems to be no end to McTeagle’s poetic invention.

‘My new cheque book hasn’t arrived’ was followed up by the brilliantly allegorical ‘What’s twenty quid to the bloody Midland Bank?’ and more recently his prizewinning poem to the Arts Council: ‘Can you lend me a thousand quid?’ ~ Ewan McTeagle, Poet Laureate of Scotland (according to Monty Python)

Sad to see the once-proud Scots being so pathetic. They basically invented the 20th century and the Scot bankers used to be able to squeeze nickels from every penny.

You can’t have independence if you still want the welfare checks and bailouts

What is perplexing about this issue is that Scotland already issues their own currency....Bank of Scotland issues Scottish pounds....which are legal tender in Scotland and England
