(WASHINGTON) — Talks between two influential senators have emerged as the most promising route for a bipartisan breakthrough on expanding federal background checks for gun buyers, a pivotal part of President Barack Obama‘s plan for combating gun violence.

One possibility being discussed by Sens. Joe Manchin, D-W. Va., and Pat Toomey, R-Pa., would involve expanding background checks to gun show sales and firearms transactions online, Senate aides said. Sales between close relatives and temporary transfers between hunters may be excluded, but an agreement along those lines could give Obama’s guns agenda a significant boost and would be a major expansion of the current system, which covers only sales handled by federally licensed gun dealers.

The MSM is working very hard to pressure Senators to "make a deal" on gun control.

How about background checks on anyone running for Senate?

And drug testing of all Senators and staff?

Push, push, push... Let’s hope it’s all for naught and that the Push for Gun Control is the FINAL nail in the MSM’s coffin. These people have gotten away with C*ap for far too long. It needs to cease.

No more laws.

No more gun control.

“expanding background checks to gun show sales and firearms transactions online”

How disconnected from reality are these fascists? Both of these things are pretty much in effect. At least to every gun show I’ve ever been to or at any online firearm seller.

When was the last time that you ordered a firearm online that was delivered directly to your home?

If I read correctly, Feinstein’s bill would make it illegal for you to send your gun back to the manf. for repairs because, under her bill, that would be considered a weapons transfer from one party to another.....

Oh... the "conservative" Pat Toomey, who stated his support for the repeal of DADT during the lame duck session shortly before coming to office in 2011?

And drug testing of all Senators and staff?

and competency tests?

This is wonderful news for thieves and murders. They will be lined up to get their background checks and all will be safe with the world.

Are these people so disassociated with the real world they don’t understand all transfers online go first through FFLs, who then conduct the background check?

we’re all going to be in the obamacare health system soon, anyway. it seems like our mental health would be recorded there . . . unless they just wanted to know which addresses to find the guns.

Toomey is just the latest Republican traitor to sell out his constituents and his country.

McCain? Graham? Portman? on and on. GOPe always breaking ranks.

Meanwhile Reid, Pelosi all the D’s - always hold together.

expanding background checks to gun show sales and firearms transactions online

Background checks at gun shows already happen if a dealer is involved. Private sales can always occur off-site. Online firearms sales already go through an FFL, so a background check is done as well for the private party
