Health secretary didn't expect persistent Obamacare opposition

The top White House adviser on health care said on Monday she did not anticipate how lengthy and persistent the political opposition would be to healthcare reform - U.S. President Barack Obama's signature domestic legislative achievement.

The administration had not anticipated opposition to the Affordable Care Act of 2010, nicknamed "Obamacare," would drag on years after the law's passage, said Kathleen Sebelius, U.S. Secretary of Health and Human Services.

Despite its goal to provide health coverage to more than 30 million uninsured Americans and improve the quality of medical care delivered across the country, many voters have balked over concerns the law will raise healthcare costs and increase government involvement in their personal decisions.

"The politics has been relentless and that continues," Sebelius said. "There was some hope that once the Supreme Court ruled in July and then once an election occurred there would be a sense that, 'This is the law of the land, let's get on board, let's make this work.' And yet we will find ourselves having state by state political battles."

One factor that contributed to the law's unpopularity for a large segment of the American public is the fact that its benefits have taken several years to impact people directly. Only in 2014 will many of its broadest benefits take effect, extending health coverage to millions more people.

Blatant propaganda piece.

But it reveals exactly, in addition to being pure evil, how this woman is both arrogant AND stupid.

"Gee, the little people aren't getting on board with the new way..."

FUKS!

"For the first time ever in the history of the United States, they'll have to compete for service and customers, not by cherry-picking the market (and) trying to figure out who can only insure people who promise never to get sick," she said.

What planet is this thing from?

Caused a lot of people to loose their heathcare, and tripled the cost, and it has not even started yet. The “People” overwhelmingly rejected it, and you did it against the wishes of all. And now you whine that people STILL hate it. Why don’t you cancel your own “special” plan and go on Obama Care along with all the rest of the royals? If you really thought it was so good, why did you exempt Congress hmmmmm?

Naw, you are not stupid, you are just a liar.

I don't think they're stupid as much as they're delusional. (And they also lack any basic understanding of human economic behavior.)

Back during one of the earliest "town hall meetings" when this was first discussed, Sebelius was stunned to find vocal resistance - aimed straight at her - down in rural Louisiana. I'm sure the area demographics had indicated that it would be a welcoming crowd, but she was shaken by the unexpected criticism.

The following week or so, SEIU thugs started mobilizing to minimize the push-back.

Kathleen is pretty high up on my grave-pissing list.

She comes by it genetically.

Her father was the idiot liberal governor of Ohio when I lived there.

It’s not “reform.” It’s the imposition of impossible requirements by dictatorship.

I intend to continue opposing it until it finally kills me. ObamaCare is not for older folks. It’s a ticket to the boneyard.

Don’t you hate it when doctors amputate your limbs just to make a buck? I didn’t figure out the scam until I was down to one arm. Fortunately I can still type.

Obamacare will fail because effective bureaucracy isn't something the American spirit is good at.

We are great inventors, entrepreneurs, explorers, cowboys, doctors, mathematicians...but we are horrible bureaucrats.

In fact, no culture is actually good at it...but were are really bad.

Thank goodness that we are so bad at it.

If Obama were an American, he would know this.

That’s true. Apparently she missed the widely publicized polls showing 80% of the public was against 0bamaCare. It shouldn’t take a degree in mathematics to understand that.

you conservatives are supposed to shut up and stop opposing us. you aren’t like us liberals who never quit even after we win, we just keep demanding more, or if we lose, we scream even louder.

Down there they got the “Louisiana Purchase” for the vote, right? Can’t remember what that was.

The other was the “Cornhusker Kickback”

But nobody in the teeming masses remembers that stuff.
