Thanks Ron for those very kind words shipmate and I was a (Aviation)Boatswain Mate, but every Sailor and Marine is your Brother and Sister till the day you died and beyond.
Back in ‘61 - ‘64 when I served my Kiddie Cruise, we’d have called you “Flyin’ Boats”! Thanks for your service.
Unfortunately, those most in need of hearing what you and the others had to say will never hear it.
Seeing your uniformed photo brought a memory from back in the day, sitting in the EM club at NOB Norfolk with a black shipmate from Chicago, a guy named Murray (don’t recall his first name). This was during the civil rights struggle, and there was occasional racial tension in the services. He commented that “There’s lots of your people and lots of my people here, but we got no problems, we get along”. It took me a minute, but I responded “I guess that’s because we’re all blue”.
Funny how clearly I can remember something that happened over half-a-hundred years ago, but can’t remember what Mrs. JimRed asked me to do yesterday!
