[snip] Obamacare will fail if he doesnt start paying more attention to the details of implementation, if he doesnt start demanding action. And, in a larger sense, the notion of activist government will be in peril despite the demographics flowing the Democrats way if institutions like the VA and Obamacare dont deliver the goods. Sooner or later, the Republican Party may come to understand that its best argument isnt about tearing down the government we have, but making it run more efficiently.
Yuval Levin? Gov. Scott Walker? Nope, thats uber-liberal columnist Joe Klein, who has to his credit discovered and is willing to admit to the serious absence of administrative competence and effort endemic in this administration.
It is much more than just Obamacare, as we have witnessed the president bounce like a ping-pong ball in a wind tunnel from crisis to crisis. Sequestration. North Korean saber-rattling. Failure of his anti-gun agenda. There is not an initiative hes begun either foreign or domestic that has been well conceived, introduced and implemented. Add in Fast and Furious and the series of green-energy crony capitalism flops and you have an extraordinary record of ineptitude. (Klein supplies examples of less-discussed failures: There has also been the studied inattention to the myriad ineffective job-training programs scattered through the bureaucracy. There have been the oblique and belated efforts to reform Head Start, a $7 billion program that a study conducted by its own bureaucracy the Department of Health and Human Services has found nearly worthless. The list is endless.)
This is precisely why effective GOP governors offer such an inviting contrast to Obama. In Virginia, Wisconsin, New Jersey, New Mexico and other states with GOP governors, budgets get passed, education is reformed, health care is modernized and bureaucracy is tamed.

....we’ll start to hear how the presidency is such a overwhelming job, maybe there should be a panel instead of a one man position.....they tried this stuff in his second year first term, when his incompetence became very apparent.
Oh yes they can, and will continue to do so........
The Obamadork does a service.
Virtually everyone in the multiverse now has someone to feel superior to.
Indeed, “yes they can”.
A liberal’s driving motivation is to feel good about himself, to feel superior.
Because of this, a liberal will never admit that the policy or person he supports is a failure or is inept. To do so would be to bring his own sense of superiority and “good personhood” into question.
“Oh yes they can, and will continue to do so........”
Agreed.
But the author makes a point I’ve been saying for some time now. The GOP establishment has zero interest in stopping Obamacare or shrinking government. They are positioning themselves to be European style “conservatives”. That is to say, they’ll promise to run big government more efficiently.
Now is the time for insurgence in the GOP. The “extremists” need to take over, even if it takes a bloody battle.
Again, this fool is a sock-puppet being controlled in every avenue by unelected and unapproved radicals. Every word this fool says is either scripted, put on a teleprompter because he’s too ignorant to memorize them, or he’s accidentally left on his own and says the damned stupidest things.
We have an incredibly incompetent sock-puppet being manipulated by anti-American and anti-Semitic commies.
Nailed it.
They are gonna apply patch after patch after band-aid after band-aid to make this stupid rotten-cored pig into their grand vision. In the end, it will become so grossly bloated and so rotten so as to cause the near total destruction of the US healthcare system. And 300,000 more 0bama (or equivalent) voters.
And as Rush has observed, being liberal means never having to say you are sorry.
But I suspect that the GOP will not do that. They will push a Big Government fan who promises to be wonky and efficient. I will not vote for that person.
The GOP will not change until the base refuses to go along with whoever is "better than the alternative". If the GOP presidential candidate in 2016 were to get half the votes that Romney got, perhaps it would wake the party up. If I had to guess, I would predict that I will not vote in 2016 -- first time since 1978. I will no longer vote for a Liberal, and that's probably what the GOP will ask me to do. No sale.
Since when did conservatives need a chronically deluded liberal like Joe Klein to be validated. Other rats will be jumping ship as the Obama clown boat approaches the shoals of Obamacare. They will be sunk by their own mine.
Yes, I hear the phrases “efficient government” or “effective government” and I cringe.
The left inherently believes that freedom, liberty, and prosperity come from government.
The right believes that government is inherently anti-thetical to these goals.
One is right and the other wrong. There is no “little bit right” in this at all.
I have seen your observations up close and personal and you are spot on with your assessment.
Mark Steyn said the same thing a while back and he has yet to be disproven. Sounds like the author feels the Republicans need to be nudged along in that direction - they don't. Thus the drift Leftward continues.
Sure hasn't failed here in Colorado.
The libs are upset with him for what they consider him recently ‘reaching out to GOP’,
they loved it when he just claimed he did to beat the GOP with. They kept repeating “The GOP rejected the deal’
Now they are upset about chained CPI.
Obama is NOT INEPT!! He is succeeding at just what he said he wanted to do to the United States, "Fundamentally Change It" into a Nazi Socialist dictatorship, devoid of a Constitution and ruled by Chicago style thugs. We are the inept ones letting him get away with destroying this nation.
