> That would be me. Haven’t had a TV in years. Don’t miss it.

Me too.

No antenna, no satellite dish, no tv.

I am among the 5 million. Ditched my Uverse TV a couple of months ago and I don’t miss it a bit. I get local channels on antenna so I can watch local news. Anything else I want to watch I can find many other ways. I’m done with the status quo.

Maybe, but the gist of the story as I read it was just that some people decided to take their brainwashing in a different form; on their mobile devices.

I saw that as a desire by broadcasters to increase their penetration of the mobile device market.

“Maybe, but the gist of the story as I read it was just that some people decided to take their brainwashing in a different form; on their mobile devices.”

I don’t think it is the same thing; they are not watching politically correct programming (with the ad revenue that is involved), and communicating with hand-held devices and watching YouTube videos isn’t the same as controlling opinions with biased news.

I think this phenomenon is why the NFL has turned into such PC nonsense, with players running around in their breast-cancer pink; the white men who still have some earning power (despite the best efforts of the left to rob them of it) aren’t watching the regular programming where women and minorities are saving the world. The NFL was hard enough to watch before, with the amount of commercials involved; now it IS the commercial.

“Zero TV” households, ... There are 5 million of these residences in the U.S., up from 2 million in 2007.

I truly wish it were a far greater number by now. The faster America detaches from the spoon fed propaganda, the easier it might be to turn America back, if that’s even possible at this point, which I seriously doubt. No TV or cable or satellite in this household going past 15 years now. My kids watch old classic cartoons on netflix and youtube. Some advertising is creeping into Youtube, so we are keeping a solid eye on that trend and will dump it if it gets too bad. Screw you media, especially you Chrissy Tingles and Madcow. I’ll order cable when there is at least four conservative channels. Faux could have been one, but they have failed their charter. Traitors to this country, all of them! /Rant See tag.

You are exactly right.

I don’t need more than four channels. The 100 that they package is mostly crap.

I don’t spend more than 10 hours a week watching the tube.

Remember when they said get cable, pay $100 bucks and you won’t have to watch commercials? LMAO.

How is it that all of the channels go to commercials at the same time so you cannot surf during commercial time.

Give me Fox News, Turner, and US and the History Channel and I am good to go.

Hulu and Netflix are only about 8 bucks a month.

Take out the trash/dish, order in what you want.

Bought myself a more updated wi-fi version of a Bluray player.
Spent the weekend watching bluray converted James Bond movies.
All I ever watch from Dishnetwork is Robot Combat leage, Mythbusters, Dr Who, Nascar, Hawaii 50 and new CSI shows.

No HBO or anything else.
I record everything, even the morning Fox news is delayed so I can skip all the commercials.

I did not give up the TV, I gave up on the socialized propaganda mind numbing reality shows and the stupid cult series.

Ditto. With a few exceptions (AMC, FX), the quality of cable shows is at or near rock bottom. We have only basic cable at our house and a Roku box with which we get Netflix streaming.

IMO, TV has been one of the WORST blights on America. It started the “downfall” of the family. Before TV, people interacted as a family, enjoyed doing things together, etc.

TV of TODAY is absolutely garbage, foul language is common place, stupidity prevails, race is pushed in the faces of everyone only enhancing the discord, news broadcast are nothing more than propaganda and the list goes on and on.

We American’s can no longer entertain ourselves and “need” all the stupidity that TV provides

Shame on us for paying for that CRAP!

“I do have Netflix and pick and choose things to watch periodically. When I’ve looked at some of the recent TV shows via Netflix it’s really irritating how predictably politically correct they are. It’s always the woman who is smart, tough, and brave. There’s frequently a falsely accused minority, and in the end it’s some white guy who is the criminal. There’s also frequently some poor Muslim who is just a nice holy guy but gets falsely accused of something because of our prejudiced American ‘conservative’ culture. If I watch anything with my child I feel the need to explain what’s real and what’s propaganda. “

I think the problem with TV is they love to show the exception to the rule, rather than the rule itself. Like Ann Coulter said, most smokers don’t get lung cancer, but most people who get lung cancer are smokers. TV often tries to sell us something that is not the truth, or at least not normal. And considering advertisers spend billions of dollars on just the commercials, I wonder what the true effect is of all the inane programing? I know a woman going on her second divorce who is an expert on relationships. From years of watching shows like Oprah and Dr. Phil I think.

Im probably next in line to get rid of my cable. Price keeps going up and up and now they tell me they are going to require a box for each tv in your home. Then they want you to bundle for a good price but you have to call them every year and pitch a fit to keep your good price.

“TV stations in the U.S. are broadcasting live TV signals to mobile devices...”

I can hardly wait to watch a movie on 4-inch cell phone screen. And I’m sure the advertisers will flock to this new medium so they they can show their goods in mouse-print size fonts.

I don’t watch much on TV. However, I have a ton of movies and old TV shows on DVD and Blu-ray and would never get rid of my TV. The problem is what is veing broadcast, not the technology.

Pretty good summary of Netflix vs. Hulu and their impact on the cable newsers from a student at Syracuse University HERE. Looks like they're headed for a destiny similar to the major movie studios and theater chains in the not too distant future.

Hawaii 50 and new CSI shows.

I watch the old 5-0 reruns. I watch CSI Miami which I call Bimbo TV, and found they are rerunning The Untouchables yesterday during a commercial during the golf match. Miami vice is a personal favorite also. Jeopardy is another favorite but I pointed something out to my wife recently, I know I am right on this, whenever there are two female contestants, watch for the categories that have only female answers like lady authors. It is more than a coincidence. One episode they were so pushing for the lady to win she answered a Dr Zhavago question saying Laura when the answer was Lara. I also love The Rifleman and Have Gun Will Travel and similar westerns with a moral message.

I have NEVER watched any of the current gaggle of single households, fag, lesbo and man demeaning “comedies” or social engineering stuff, nothing on the weather channel so I don’t get the global warming propaganda. I do watch the local news on a local station that actually has “the wheel of justice” i.e. they have this wheel they spin each week with the pictures of wanted criminals. 9 out of ten weeks they are all minorities! Toss in TCM and I am done.
