Wouldn’t the libertarian position be against the state recognizing any marriage?

I'm not libertarian but I think that may be the only way to win this. After all the first official government issued marriage licenses didn't appear till the 1850s in the Kansas territory. I'm only guessing but I suspect it only came about as a result of deal making over whether Kansas would be a slave or free state.
