Nancy Lanza, the mother of Newtown shooter Adam Lanza, had nearly $60,000 in bank accounts and a will dating to 1994 that left her estate to Adam and his brother, Ryan Lanza.
The five-page will, originally signed in November 1994 when Nancy Lanza and her husband at the time, Peter Lanza, lived in New Hampshire, was filed in the regional Probate Court in Bethel earlier this week by Stamford attorney Samuel Starks.
Starks had been assigned by Probate Judge Joseph Egan to search for Nancy Lanza's will and to file an accounting of her estate. Starks has yet to file that accounting, although in a letter to Egan he said that he had identified $59,000 in liquid assets that belonged to Nancy Lanza as of Dec. 14, when 20-year-old Adam killed her in her sleep before driving to Sandy Hook Elementary School and murdering 20 first-graders and six women before killing himself as police closed in.
Nancy Lanza's will originally made Peter Lanza her beneficiary and executor. But the couple was divorced in 2009, removing him as a benefactor or executor.

Previously reported: **Lanza Had Arsenal Of Guns, Ammunition, Swords, Knives*
.....a bit of selective editing.
IIRC, the *few guns* were a BB gun and a starter's pistol. Heh.
What dreadful parents the Lanzas were. That little boy, Adam, reportedly fell apart when the marriage fell apart. He never got over not having a father at home.
No amount of alimony could have replaced what Adam really needed, a strong masculine presence in the home. The parents were selfish, secular, materialistic, lapsed Catholics. They should have focused on church and counseling and prayer and fellowship. They should have given full parental attention to the poor disabled child before he grew up to be a wild, murderous adult.
We’ll never know.
Is this appropriate for the newspaper to even report. The woman was shot to death by her son. The other son, Ryan was claimed to have been the shooter. Sometime the family is treated more like the culprit than the actual person whom did the crime. Look at the Trayvon Martin family they filed a wrongful death suit against the Home Owner Association.
>>Police also removed from the house more than 1,500 rounds of ammunition, a few guns, knives and samurai swords.<<
They call that an arsenal? I have more than that in my desk drawer.
He had chemical imbalances in his brain.
......either caused by or aggravated by psychotropic drugs.
I feel this is info held back by the state and once released the people will go BS.
I go BS. We go BS. Everyone, let's go BS!
Personally, I don’t think it is anyone’s business.
But the Hartford Courant *must* have an above the fold Newtown story every day. Their agenda is apparent and supect, as is all LSM.
We await the long overdue *report* from the police and state attorney’s office.
The politicizing of this tragedy make it nearly impossible to know the truth.
The other son somehow turned out normal...
Welcome to the new America. What is saddest of all is that this mother apparently was in complete denial about her son’s behavior. One does not wake up one day and go on a murderous rampage that includes slaughtering your own mother and little children.
That is why you need to set up a trust. If you do not and the probate courts get involved it is public knowledge. I have a trust. Easy to do and private.
The mental disease was worsened when the father left home. That’s when the kid really fell off the ledge.
Being an active member of a good church would have helped prevent divorce. God hates divorce. The church hates divorce. With fellowship, Bible study, and spiritual counseling, the parents would have been less likely to go their own selfish ways.
Getting a divorce (and not remarrying) is bad parenting. That kid needed a father. That was the origin sin in the household, not the guns.
Only by the grace of God. He was lucky. Just like someone who smokes all his life and never dies of lung cancer.
I too blame the dad, he should have stayed where his duty lay. Oh, duty is a bad word these days, evil psychologists would have people do what they want, self-actualize, no matter the damage to others as long as the self is “happy” Adam Lanza’s dad had a weinie problem. He should have behaved himself and honored his family.
