Judge Orders F.D.A. to Make Morning-After Pill Available Over the Counter for All Ages
NY TIMES ^ | 4/5/13 | Pam Belluck

A federal judge has ruled that the Unites States government must make the most common morning-after pill available over the counter for all ages, instead of requiring a prescription for girls 16 and under.

The decision, on a fraught and politically controversial subject, comes after a decade-long fight over who should have access to the pill and under what circumstances, and it counteracts an unprecedented move by the Obama administration's Health and Human Services secretary who in 2011 overruled a recommendation by the Food and Drug Administration to make the pill available for all ages without a prescription.

See? Now Obama can say "But the JUDGE FORCED us to make the abortion pill available for everyone!"

Judges

They have all the power in the universe. They make the laws. They direct the legislature. They control the executive branch. If the judge orders the US government to jump, the government must say, "How high, Sir?"

This will probably make it much easier for girls to protect their “older” (adult predator) boyfriends. The girls won’t get pregnant, they won’t have to go to planned parenthood, they won’t have to face angry parents because of a pregnancy, and best of all for the older boyfriend, the police don’t get involved.

Say judge, we are reading that cancer patients are being turned away from clinics because of budget cuts. Will you now order the F.D.A. to provide the clinics with the cancer drugs?

What makes you think the government isn’t already doing this. Take the pill, flush it away, it enters the water cycle. Feminizes the fish. Goes all the way up into the sky then falls all the way back down onto me. Contraceptives in the rain.

This decision, especially when considered in the context of the introduction of The Pill in the early 1960s, will have far more effect on the institution of marriage and the culture of the country than will the ultimate legalization of homosexual marriage.

Life saving drugs require a prescription; life ending drugs don’t. The DemonRat message is loud and clear.

Taking these pills is not without risk. In the near future we will learn the risk percentages, because the government now has human guinea pigs to test this drug.

This is a godsend to pimps. They can force their teenaged prostitutes to take the drug on a regular basis. Then when the girl bleeds out, the pimp can just deposit her body in a local dumpster, and go get another teenage girl to turn out.

I brought that up in a way, in post #9. Life saving drugs are being denied to cancer patients. Why doesn’t the judge just order the F.D.A. to provide life saving drugs to cancer clinics? Oh wait. It’s because the drugs might SAVE LIVES! It doesn’t END them. Sorry, my bad.

they won’t have to go to planned parenthood

I'm surprised that PP hasn't come out with guns blazing against this 'morning after' pill. It cuts into their profits something fierce.

Libertarians have often asked, who owns your body. Government wants to control what you eat and what medicine you can take. Indeed, many people are in jail at this very moment for “possession of a controlled substance”. Government SWAT teams descend upon farmers selling raw milk to willing customers in private transactions, not to mention raiding health food stores for selling vitamin pills it thinks should not be sold.

I can make up my own mind, thank you.

It is a shame that these issues comes to light due to demand for an abortifactant, a medicine that causes a fertilized egg to be be flushed out of a woman’s body instead of being able to finish gestation at term. If life begins at conception, the “Plan B” bill destroys a life.

Having said that, the issue returns to the fact that one human cannot own the life of another. This was how the Supreme Court decision Scott v Sanford insulted reason and human rights. In this decision, the Court ruled that Negro slaves were the property of their owners. The effect of Roe v Wade was that the unborn child was not a human with its own right to life, but instead was the property of its mother.

I reject the government’s claim to have power to regulate what I put in my body. My power over my body is a right that I reserve as unalienable and protected by the Tenth Amendment. My body is not a factor in “interstate commerce”. If there is any value to Roe v Wade that was to elaborate the unalienable right to privacy which I also claim as it pertains to what I put in my body, that is: it is my private business alone.

When a woman conceives a child, no matter what the circumstance, she has a fiduciary responsibility for the life and welfare of that separate human life until it can sustain itself. That is why conception is such a serious matter and must be protected by society.

Just because nobody else may know of the conception does not make the new life any less human and any less endowed by the Creator with the right to life. But if she kills that new life, she will have to answer to God, and not human law. We would not want to live in a society where women’s menstrual cycles are tracked (like in China at one time), in order to police unauthorized conceptions or to track the disposition of a pregnancy.

Yesterday I had to wait 20 minutes at a pharmacy while they did a back round check on me to buy my daughter “Sudafed”. Said we could “make crack” out of it or something.

Now, my 14 year old can buy this without me. Unreal.
