yep, the price of gas is so low right now that it’s cheaper to just burn it off than to transport it.

The whole sky in parts of west Texas was lit up with the fires of rigs burning off gas two weeks ago when I went to check on my holdings out there.

Only for the new wells. Permitting has a limited time to tie those in until the penalties get large including loss of operating permits. It varies by state.

I am aware that you would need a huge infrastructure with power lines, huge gas industral generators, but ? it's a shame to just burn that gas into the air and not use it for some purpose.
Instead use that flaring gas to run generators and make avalible to small towns near by electric.
Yes, I know the cost and major understaking it would be to bring that electric to small towns, or even oil rigs, the cost would out weigh the benefits.

Still, it's a shame to just burn it into the air.

Has any of those natural gas companies who flare that gas into the air thought about piping it to some huge gas turbine generator to produce electical power either to the gas & oil rigs or some small town near by ?
