The Huckster thinks Todd Akin is a moderate?

We lost that seat because of Huckabee. He was the one that supported Akin from beginning to end. When the Democrats were spending a couple million dollars to help nominate Akin, it should have been obvious to the Huckster and everyone else that Akin was a terribly flawed candidate for a statewide office. When Akin, predictably, blew up his campaign with stupid comments about rape, Huckabee kept supporting him and encouraged him not to drop out. The result, McCaskill crushed Todd Akin by 15 points. It wasn't even close, yet the Huckster was telling social conservatives Akin could win - and many believed him.

OK, how does that explain the following:

1) Col. Allen West’s defeat in Florida

2) Michelle Bachmann’s near-death experience win in Minnesota

3) Mia Love’s defeat in Utah

Akin lost favor among the Karl Rove crowd, not the conservatives, and they used his statement on the probability of pregnancy from rape as a tool to stab him in the back. The republicans were more vocal in taking down Akin than the democrats were -- they largely just sat back and smiled as Rove's crowd did their work for them. Huckabee stepped in later, in an attempt to pull Rove's dagger from between Akin's shoulder blades. It was an honorable thing to do, and I respect Huckabee for it. He stood up against the GOPe; it's about time we all followed suit. I'd take Akin over McCaskill any day of the week. What conservative among us would not? Some republicans, however, are showing themselves to be less than conservative. And they were happy to lose the election rather than permit a conservative like Akin to win.
