Connecticut pols strike deal to expand assault-weapons ban, restrict high-capacity magazines

Connecticut lawmakers announced a deal Monday on what they called some of the toughest gun laws in the country that were proposed after the December mass shooting in the state, including a ban on new high-capacity ammunition magazines like the ones used in the massacre that left 20 children and six educators dead.

The proposal includes new registration requirements for existing magazines that carry 10 or more bullets, something of a disappointment for some family members of Newtown victims who wanted an outright ban on the possession of all high-capacity magazines and traveled to the state Capitol on Monday to ask lawmakers for it.

The package also creates what lawmakers said is the nation's first statewide dangerous weapon offender registry, creates a new "ammunition eligibility certificate," imposes immediate universal background checks for all firearms sales, and extends the state's assault weapons ban to 100 new types of firearms and requires that a weapon have only one of several features in order to be banned.

The newly banned weapons could no longer be bought or sold in Connecticut, and those legally owned already would have to be registered with the state, just like the high-capacity magazines.

"No gun owner will lose their gun," said House Minority Leader Lawrence Cafero Jr., a Norwalk Republican. "No gun owner will lose their magazines."

The bill also addresses mental health and school security measures.

Not one word in this POS will prevent or would have prevented the shootings that occured in Ct,Va or Colorado or any where else.
All it does is make a bunch of PC politicians feel good about them selves.
Liberalism is a disease and these guys got it bad, maybe it’ll be terminal.

He utters that sh*t as if he expects people to actually believe it. Gun owners will be required to register their weapons and magazines. Damned right they’ll lose them.

The Supreme Court needs to lay down the law on what is protected by the 2nd Amendment, and do it soon. This shit is getting out of control. If they keep putting off their responsibility, it will be too late—too many Americans are losing their rights on a daily basis.

did the people of Connecticut have anything to say about this? No?

Imagine my surprise. Another win for the Ruling Class.

"Every citizen a right to bear arms in defense of himself and the state", Article I paragraph 15 of the state Constitution. Are we a nation of laws any more?

The Supreme Court needs to lay down the law

R U 4 R33L?

the era of having the Supreme Court as protector of the clear written intent of the Constitution ended a hundred years ago.

So, what's it gonna be, Colt?
We love you. We love your guns.
Your home state now says it is against the law for us to buy most of your products.
In fact, we will now need their permission to buy ammo for the ones they allow us to keep.
The boot on our necks is getting heavier.
What is your response?

I’m sorry, do you have a better idea?

Let me know when you are ready to start storming the state capitol buildings. Must be nice to sit back in Texas and pretend none of this will affect you.

Connect-i-cut, where politicians are cheap universal tools.

It’s all about control of the people. When over regulation fails they simply expand their control. Solutions might take power from the government and that will never happen. They have spent too much time and effort taking it from the people in the first place.

Absolutely. SCOTUS rules that the 2A is an individual right and applies to the states. But the left passes whatever gun laws they want, to see what sticks. Part of their plan is hoping a conservative justice dies or retires by the time any challenges to these ridiculous laws make it to SCOTUS.

Mossberg, Ruger, and Colt need to get up and go. If they don't they are definitely in an adverse environment.
