It’s raising new questions about what’s lost when the White House tries to make an end run around the media, functioning, in effect, as its own news agency.
Mike McCurry, who served as press secretary to President Bill Clinton, sees an inclination by the Obama White House to “self-publish,” coupled with tactics “I never would have dreamed of in terms of restricting access” for independent news organizations.
“What gets lost are those revealing moments when the president’s held accountable by the representatives of the public who are there in the form of the media,” says McCurry.
Obama himself took note of complaints about limited access in his jokes last month at the Gridiron dinner, an annual event where political leaders, journalists and media executives poke fun at one another.
“Some of you have said that I’m ignoring the Washington press corps, that we’re too controlling,” Obama said. “You know what, you were right. I was wrong and I want to apologize – in a video you can watch exclusively at whitehouse.gov.”
Three days later, it was no laughing matter when the White House live-streamed on the Internet Obama’s meeting with his export council and allowed just one reporter in the room.
Still, the White House rejects the notion that it is turning to new media it can control at the expense of the old, instead describing an all-of-the-above strategy.

The funny part is that the old line news media are 99% hacks for the administration anyway. Obama still can’t deal with that.
This is the closest we have come to a full on dictator. The Congress is totally neutered and the balless press should be screaming about it.

There is nothing wrong with the IQs of high level journalists. They know exactly what they are doing. They are conditioned liberals (years of college + lib cocktail parties, etc.) and print exactly what the boss wants them to print.
They want to remain employed in their field.
End run around a media that's been blocking for him?
AP knew this two or more years ago but kept silent. They are complicit in reelecting Hussein. Too bad there is no way to punish these SOBs for their malfeasance.

When this falls, they will take the lions’ share of the blame for NOT doing their jobs which is to investigate, not kiss booty to be allowed to lick the elites’ boots.

From time to time a member of the media will whine about not getting enough “access” to Obama. They have those Obama knee pads, and they want to use them.

I agree with everything you said. I would just add that it is so easy just to think the way the lib majority think rather than report independently. It is even more profitable to suppress and censor for a paycheck and advancement.
Pat Cadell was right. By their operation of the relentless propaganda machine, the media are the enemy of the American people.
