Morning AB, All....

....thank you AB, as always, for doing this thread. If you think we don’t notice, try a Sunday NOT posting it.

Oh....tried that?

I rest my case.

Anyway, Happy Easter to all...the words of “Jesus Christ Is Risen Today” are ear worms in my brain. Sang at Holy Thursday, Good Friday, Easter Vigil, last night.

Good Friday was excrutiating.

Two Deacons evidently wanted to serenade us. So they both sang some sort of thank you song...thanking the pope, our elected officials...that sort of thing.

Question one....we had to pray for the Jews.

Now I don’t mind praying for the Jews, not at all. But why just the Jews? We didn’t pray for Muslims, or Presbyterians for that matter.

The bigger issue was there were about twelve different sorts to pray for and each Deacon sang some kind of narrative with each “pray for”.

The absurd thing was those thoughtless Deacons making the congregation kneel and stand with each pray for.

THAT’S 22 KNEELS AND STANDS folks, for an older congregation I might add! Whole thing took about 45 minutes, really a pain.

The in-pew “breaking bread” had instructions that said we could stand the whole time during the prayers but the selfish Deacons were on a roll.

Lookit, maybe cause I had a quadruple bypass and standing and kneeling like that is excrutiating for those of us with compromised circulation.

The Deacons could have given the congregation a choice to stand the whole time and avoid the constant kneeling and stuff.

In fact, our parish Pastor stood the whole time cause he was totally unable to do all that kneeling with his bum leg.

Yeah, I’m mad about it. It was a selfish, thoughtless thing for two show-offs to sing their solos.

Went to Baltimore last week to visit daughter, got some stories on her....my prototype low-information voter, and I say that kindly. Yeah she’s LO-FO but she’s a busy Mom, getting up at 5 in the am to drive husband to work, hoisting young child out of bed, taking her back home, dressing, ready for school, drive to school. Must re-pick up husband at 2 pm. In between she must do what Mom’s do.

She’s not stupid....but she’s Lo-Fo....

I consider Low Information voters as those who have been fooled and don’t have the time, nor the inclination frankly, to find out how they have been fooled.

Awaiting intelligent commentary as always...

Yes, Pat, my parish did the same Intersessionary Prayers (but they do every year).

As to praying for the Jews as a single prayer, remember that our Saviour is a Jew... That’s the way I see it.

The next prayer was for Muslims and others...

A few years back the Church got into trouble as they called for conversion of all these peoples, including the “Perfidious Jews”. That language has since been scrubbed (in 1955 I think).

Since this is the Easter thread and I have zero interest in watching political “opinion”, I will share my most memorable Easter Vigil happening.

Visiting San Francisco a few years ago, the Saturday evening service fit our schedule better, so we went to the Catholic Church near the Berkeley Campus, Newman Hall, (near where my son worked.) We did not know that it was a Very Popular event, and we were too late to get seats. It lasted three hours and included all seven readings and sung responsorials, with choir and orchestra, 6 immersion baptisms, and Dancers down the aisles representing the angels and the women who met at the tomb.

The whole happening is seared in my memory!

You think Your Mass was a trip? ha!

I had an India Indian priest today on Easter.. we could hardly understand ..ok, so far, no problem.

Then ON EASTER he ends the homily with a joke....( an old joke):
{ family takes a trip to Jerusalem, takes the mother-in-law, everyone. Mother in law dies on the trip in Jersualem. The husband asks the american embassy how to ship MIL ‘body back to the US and told its very expensive, most people just bury the person in Israel. Husband says, “no, I don’t care what it costs. There was guy here 2000 yrs ago who was buried here and he came back alive, I don’t want to take a chance.” }

No one laughed. On Easter.
WTF????
