Soon will be able to enforce Obama gun laws without sheriffs' help
A bill is heading to Colorado Gov. John Hickenloopers desk that Republican lawmakers say would give members of the Secret Service broad arrest powers in the state and could provide a framework for federal agents eventually to enforce gun restrictions.
This is absolutely insane, Rep. Lori Saine, R-Dacono, said. In theory if a Secret Service agent is in a county where the sheriff has refused to enforce some of the recent unenforceable gun laws, the agent could arrest an individual if he believes the law has been broken.
The idea actually aligns with an Obama agenda to create vast new restrictions and regulations on guns. WND has reported that hundreds of sheriffs nationwide, including many in Colorado, have said they cannot enforce federal restrictions that would violate the Second Amendment.
In Colorado, Weld County Sheriff John Cooke said he and many other county sheriffs wont bother with several laws poised to go into effect in Colorado because they would be impossible to enforce.
One of the laws would require private sellers to do a background check on purchasers in private gun transaction, but the sheriffs wonder how to keep track of whether gun owners are meeting the new requirements.

The new bill regarding the Secret Service, SB-13-013, passed on a nearly party line vote in the Democrat-controlled House and is now awaiting the governors signature. The bill grants members of the Secret Service arrest powers by considering them to be a peace officer, putting them on a par with state law-enforcement officials with respect to arrest authority.

Will every agent be required to memorize all of the statutes of all the states?
Governor Hickenhooper will jump on command and do anything they want, one of the most true_beliver Democrat operatives in America
Read the article. This is really sinister - typical dhimmicrat lies and obfuscations. It makes no sense. It makes me think that the crazy booger eater joe biden is involved somehow.
Yes, likely so, and it goes above the current thinking in the Secret Service as we see here.
the Secret Service told him their current policies would prohibit them from arresting Colorado citizens under the bills provisions. They told Jared that making an arrest of a Colorado citizen for a misdemeanor crime unrelated to their own duties would actually violate their own guidelines,
"Guidelines" and "current policies" are very easy to change. Obama can change them in a DC minute.
I am just saying that the US Secret Service would be a long way outside their jurisdiction to be enforcing a State law.
The Secret Service budget is controlled by Congress. They can restrict the functions to only protecting the president and financial crimes, which is only what they are allowed to do anyway.
I completely agree with you. I think the idea is ridiculous.
I guess they’ll be programmed with one primary directive: disarm the citizens.
The democratic party in Colorado is an extremely well-funded and well oiled machine able to take advantage of racist politics to polarize a increasingly minority demographic into abandoning their money and rights in the name of fear.
If the people of Colorado are not shocked back in to their senses by this madness than I should declare the State and its remaining people dammed.
It must be the former. If that's so, then I fail to see what this law changes. Feds have always had power to enforce federal law, despite what state law says.
Can someone explain this?
but an organization that shares initials with Heinrich Himmler’s omnipresent force in Nazi Germany, huh?
It is surprising, given that the TSA actually DOES resemble Himmler’s organization in many of its methods;)
Kind of ironic that the Secret Services initials are ‘SS’
I thought they dealt mostly with counterfeiting? Good luck with that, there probably aren’t that many agents in the state.
“Will every agent be required to memorize all of the statutes of all the states?”
No but they will be required to memorize every underground bordellos (except Navada) in all 57 states. =)
Texas scares me. If we lose Texas, its very bad.”
A lot of us in Texas are really frightened. We live out in the County and I asked our local Sheriff if he was going to sign the petition with other sheriff’s who won’t enforce federal gun laws. His response, “I’m thinking on it”. Told him not good enough. He either was or he wasn’t and it’s time to pick a side.
He has always run unopposed but understand he may have a tough young gun running against him next time.
No one has higher legal authority than a sheriff in his juresdiction.
He has always run unopposed but understand he may have a tough young gun running against him next time.
He’d better commit to upholding the Constitution or he’ll get fired. Pressure him declare his stance. The other candidate will pressure him.
Everyone needs to let their sheriff know that they support them and will stand with them when the time comes. we can’t leave them hanging.
Look at Joe Arpillo. He’s standing up to the Feds.
