As lawmakers consider a range of new restrictions on guns, the gun industry is growing nervous that its exceptional success during the “Great Recession” could be coming to an end.

In the past four years, the gun industry has experienced an unprecedented level of growth, providing a rare boost to the ailing economy.

But now, with states like New York and Colorado passing some of the strictest gun laws in decades — and Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid poised to bring a sweeping new gun control measure to the Senate floor — worries are growing about the widespread impact such gun laws could have on business.

But is should get the prison industry booming once the American people start putting these PUBLIC SERVANTS in prison, WHERE THEY BELONG, for violating our Second Amendment rights!

...economic woes for booming gun industry

They wish!

I think we're going to see a lot of companies convert to 10th amendment firearms sellers. Move to a free state and then sell their products only within the borders of same free state, thus avoiding federal interference with their businesses.

Prisons are for criminals.
For traitors, they actually belong in the ground.

Free people need to move to free states and demand that those states assert their 10th amendment sovereignty.

I agree. The commie libs are REALLY out of control right now. They’ve gone totally scorched earth on America.

I’m thinking the lawyers are hoping the most restrictive of the proposed gun control laws go through.

Just thinking of all the money to be made defending a few million gun owners who refuse to register their guns is enough to give an ambulance chaser nocturnal sweats.

Good point. If things get very ugly, I would hope to see a MagPulMT, MagpulID, MagpulWY, and about 30 others, supplying magazines and other accessories for OlympicArmsMT, LesBaerID, LaRueTacticalWy, and all the other new small companies. We need to keep kids involved in the shooting sports and in shooting as a life skill. In the long run, our kids are what will matter for preserving freedom.

"Over in the House, when asked recently what was more likely—passage of gun control or Speaker John Boehner becoming a pagan—a senior GOP leadership aide told Buzzfeed: "Probably the latter."

"Even were the Senate to summon 60 votes (unlikely), and even were Mr. Boehner to risk the renewed wrath of his caucus by moving such a bill (crazy unlikely), any legislation would fall to members such as Virginia's Bob Goodlatte (who runs the Judiciary Committee) and Pete Sessions (who runs the Rules Committee). Mr. Goodlatte is strong on gun rights. Mr. Sessions is from Texas."-WSJ 1/10/13

I would think the rope industry should take off as well.

Sounds like wishful thinking from Nicole. Reporters should stick to facts instead of writing their wishes as “news”.

Ar15.com just put out a release yesterday stating their move from New York to Dallas, Tx. This includes shelving their plans for a brick and mortar gun shop.

More restrictions (not a wholesale ban) mean more industry innovations, and more urgency to buy what hasn’t yet been banned.

I’m sure the arfcom guys will eventually open a shop in north Texas. Maybe they’d open something that’s sorely needed as well - a rifle range that allows FMJ ammo. Seems like all the decent ranges near Dallas currently have that prohibition.

The lack of availability of parts, ammunition and other supplies will hurt the industry. Without those supplies, people won’t use their firearms for recreation and will quickly lose interest in politics.

MagPul is gone from CO. Beretta will go from MD if they pass the state Senate's version of the governor's bill. The Senate enhanced the bill so that it may put ALL of the gun dealers in MD out of business as well as Beretta, Benelli, and Stoeger’s. Colt's Mfg. and Colt Defense LLC are talking of moving from CT.
