Top donors threaten Dems: Do the right thing on guns, or no more money
Washington Post ^ | March 28, 2013 | Greg Sargent

With red state Democratic Senators remaining skittish about embracing Obama’s gun proposals, at least two top Democratic donors are stepping forward and vowing to withhold any and all future financial contributions from any Democrats who don’t support the centerpiece of Obama’s plan: Expanded background checks.

The move underscores the rising importance of gun control as an issue in Democratic politics — and the rising frustration in some Democratic circles with elected officials who continue to regard gun politics as a third rail, at a moment that presents a real opportunity to achieve serious reform, with a policy that enjoys near universal public support.

The Dems are committing political suicide and the useful idiots with money are standing as their second to cut the head off as the blade enters the belly.

They obviously didn’t learn their lesson in 1994, so I guess we’ll have to teach them again in 2014.

Empty threat. These leftist clowns will continue to support Democrats regardless. Too many other agenda issues that are on their list.

Conservatives are missing the boat here. We should be doing the same to Republicans.

Unfortunately most conservatives probably dont donate in the first place.

If North Dakota’s Democrat Senator Heidi Heitkamp supports ANY gun control bill, she’s finished.

She will never hold elected office in North Dakota again.

Here’s hoping!

The simple fact is that all these so called "gun control" laws they're trying to pass are simply to control people, and will have NO EFFECT on crime.

It sickens me to see the way Obama and the leftist scum bathe in the blood of innocent children while using the parents of the victims as nothing more than props to accomplish his political ends.

If they were serious about combating crime, including crimes where guns were used, Chicago would be the perfect experiment. Gun control is an abject failure, and the fact that Chicago ranked 90th out of 90 jurisdictions where federal firearms prosecutions were attempted. The Obama regime is more than happy to allow criminals to run rampant when they claim they need more laws, but out of over 15,000 "hits" fewer than 50 federal prosecutions were even attempted!

They will not be satisfied until they pass laws completely disarming the American public, making the public completely dependent on the government for protection, and ensuring there will never be a popular uprising.

I would hope that top GOP contributors would do the same thing to any Republican senator who would think of voting for unconstituitonal gun restrictions.

Bye Bye Democrats in Senate; take a bribe, go home. It’s kind of poetic justice.

This is why Reid did an about face and will now schedule a vote on at least an assault weapons ban (I thought they were already banned).

"a policy that enjoys near universal public support"?

This is, of course, a lie.
