Regarding the “Mary” with the disciples; throughout the 4 Gospels, Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John state that there were others, in addition to the 12, who traveled with Jesus. Take for instance when Jesus sent out the 70 or 72 apostles in pairs to spread His message. Where would those additional 58/60 have come from and known His message if they had not also traveled with him. I see the “Mary” as representing these who are mentioned but often ignored as we center, as Jesus did, on the training of the 12. (of course it didn’t quite take with Judas Iscariot)
Others traveled with them, yes, I know. Although, she seems to be the only extra traveler depicted. Again, I didn’t pause the show and count, but she was singled out more than any of the others. And this has to be the first dramatization that I’ve seen with her at the Last Supper. Maybe I’ve been staring at Da Vinci’s painting too much.
