SIERRA VISTA U.S. Border Patrol spouses have banded together and will stage a protest at 11 a.m. on Saturday, March 30, at Veterans Memorial Park to voice their opinions on a possible 40 percent cut in pay agents may see as a result of the federal budget sequestration.
The spouses of the agents have banded together and we want the public to know that these pay cuts and furloughs will not only have a devastating effect on us, said Connie Johnson, event organizer and wife of a Border Patrol agent. It will have a domino effect on the local economy.
What puzzles Johnson the most is that while Border Patrol agents could see extensive furloughs and deep pay cuts, around $245 million, customs agents will have to deal with only $40 million in spending and compensation cutbacks.
It just doesnt seem fair. We really hope the public turns out in support of the Border Patrol on Saturday, said Johnson.
Johnson said the event is intended to send a message back to Washington, and through U.S. Rep. Ron Barber and U.S. Sen John McCain, who have been invited to attend the event. So far, she has not heard if the legislators will be there for their constituents.
They’re counting on mccain?
Interesting. Thanks for posting, SandRat and thanks for the ping, HiJinx
Oh no, now there will be millions of illegal aliens in our country.
Telling the obama administration that a particular sequester move is hurtful to the country is EXACTLY what this evil administration wants. Then this bozo can “justify” the continued increase in spending the fed absolutely must do to keep us safe from all the horrible things they have prevented from happening all along. He and his cabinet and czars are cherry picking the most ridiculous places to cut funding instead of removing the funding from where it never should have been in the first place.
For a country to survive, it needs to protect its borders and control who is admitted.
