Soon after Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nev., announced an assault weapons ban would not be part of a gun control bill, a new CBS News poll shows support for stricter gun control laws overall has dropped since the shootings at Sandy Hook Elementary School.
Currently, support for stricter gun control laws stands at 47 percent today, down from a high of 57 percent just after the shootings. Thirty-nine percent want those laws kept as they are, and another 11 percent want them made less strict.
Partisans hold different views on gun control laws: 52 percent of Republicans want the laws kept as they are, while 66 percent of Democrats want stricter laws (down from 78 percent in February). Half of gun owners themselves want gun laws overall kept as they are, but a quarter call for stricter laws.
Women (55 percent) are more likely than men (39 percent) to want stricter laws, as are those living in the Northeast. Only 44 percent in the Midwest and South want stricter laws; 47 percent in the West.
This poll was conducted by telephone from March 20-24, 2013 among 1,181 adults nationwide. Phone numbers were dialed from samples of both standard land-line and cell phones. The error due to sampling for results based on the entire sample could be plus or minus three percentage points. The error for subgroups may be higher. This poll release conforms to the Standards of Disclosure of the National Council on Public Polls.

Well, cr@p. This means the looney left is going to have to wish for the deaths of a few more children in an even MORE spectacular shoot-out to get what it wants...
...because it’s For The Children, d@mmit!
What a surprise!
The Dem/libs have been engaging in a steady push to infringe on our right to keep and bear arms for decades. And this is how it has been working out for them in the last two decades...
And in the last two months... (Dec. 2012 and Jan. 2013)
MOLON LAVE! ;-)
Wish, hell. Snady Hook was so conveniently timed, one cannot help but to wonder if there was more than 'wishing' involved.
The rats need to be made to answer the question -
what do you want to do that requires a disarmed citizenry?
And no clear-cut details on weaponry, a lot of slight of hand, smoke & mirrors, etc.
Same Old, Same Old.
I really hate these blindly agenda-driven b@stards. Truly, I do.
But, ‘olive juice’, Laz. :)
Sounds like they need to have their government-media tell us about another event... the kind they used canned/stock photos for and the kind that leaves more questions than answers. But don’t ask any questions, that would concern Big Sister.
Release the ammuntion Nappy!...
Bull crap! It never existed in the first place!
Pharaoh! Let my projectiles go!
Release the ammuntion Nappy!...
I think the dems (and betrayer re-puke-licans) in the senate are waiting to sign the UN small arms treaty. They know they can’t come in the front door and will try to use the back door.
Yep, and those questions don't appear in this poll. The numbers that matter are the ones that tell the Dems how big a bath they're likely to take in '14 if they keep pushing on this. The rest is fluff.
Nice try - Enemedia.

Not to dispair Diana, they have people waiting in the wings to do the job, antidepressant drug users, that have been made total berserkers through their drug use, that will be deployed, just like Jared Loughner was.

Thanks Laz, you’ve got their number! Every one of these mass shootings was a planned event that could easily have been prevented.
Senate votes 53-46 to stop US from joining UN Arms Trade Treaty
Thank God...andI appreciate the report!
[[support for stricter gun control laws stands at 47 percent today,]]
Swell, so nearly one half of our population are clueless Yuppy idiots who think that the police will always arrive in time to save them and their family from all harm- And this is supposed to be good news? I’m willing to bet that back in colonial times only a small minority were stupid enough to think that not owning guns made people safer- Our country is slowly slipping into stupidty
At one local gun store in CT where according to one poll something like 75-90% of the state supposedly supports strict gun control they have had to add a second pistol permit class for two each week. Even with that there is a two week wait.
which is why nys cuomo passed a law in one day to outlaw 10 clip mags in his safe act. now my .22 is worthless - how does that stop crime?
